Born and raised in France, this 34 year old soccer player shone throughout his career with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. We are not forgetting, of course, his participation in France national team, “les bleus”, and their win of the FIFA 2018 world cup. He is currently playing for David Beckham’s Inter Miami where he continues to demonstrate his midfield abilities. THE MATUIDI CONCEPT
Meeting Blaise Matuidi was a very pleasant experience. We met with a humble athlete, one that cherishes values such as family and friendship. Blaise Matuidi is the kind of person who keeps his feet firmly on the ground despite his many successes. He comes out as a man who lives his dream life playing soccer but keeps it cool. These specific personality traits would become the common threads of this personalization concept. Matuidi desired his timepiece to be outstanding and elegant, mirroring his professional universe without being ostentatious.
Approaching this personalization, we decided to keep the original black-green color theme of the GMT Master II and its 2 complications (GMT time zone and data disc) while adding sophistication to the movement in skeletonizing the cutout of the dial appreciatively.

DEPTH AND VOLUME – A 3D MOVEMENT
The GMT-Master II, is a technical feat to skeletonize due to the density of the original movement. The automatic winding module has been reshaped and refined, offering the skeletonized timepiece amplitude, depth and volume.
For Matuidi’s timepiece, we chose to use for the dial and the oscillating weight a matte green rather than a bright green to subtly remind of the lawn of the football stadium. It adds to the elegance of this timepiece and fits Matuidi’s personality more accurately.
The overlay of the Sapphire module of the date with the rest of the movement creates a visual illusion, making the watch appear larger than its actual size. The depth and width of this timepiece are remarkable: it’s as if we transition from a 2D watch to a captivating 3D one.
The case and the bracelet are made of a sumptuous matte gray Oyster steel that enhances the monochrome ceramic black bezel.

THE TIMEPIECE AWAKENS IN THE DARK
More politically correct and smooth by day, this timepiece has the particularity of transforming in front of our eyes in the darkness or at night. It happens thanks to the additional glass made with luminescent intra-ceramic laser. The touches we added to the glass illuminates the entire movement, thus accentuating the sensation of volume to the timepiece. It is almost as if by owning this timepiece, you get two different timepieces in one.
Even if the timepiece “awakens” in the dark, we still decided to give Matuidi a special nod by emphasizing the number 14 on the date module as it is his player number in most of his career.
