The fine work carried out on the Skeletonisation of the movement, the result of nearly 2 years of research, puts it in the worthy line of its predecessors, emblematic for more than 50 years, and preserves without comparison its status inherited from the world of motor racing among sports chronographs. The choice of colours and their finishes, deliberately satin and matt, anthracite grey for the movement and orange for the reading elements, are oriented towards the world of the ultimate, the demanding and the challenging. We did indeed say challenge, technical and technological, with a result, 42 grams on the balance far removed from the original 155 grams, bringing it into the very restricted circle of the most extreme chronographs and the ultimate machine of the Skeleton concept workshops. Case and bezel : Ultimate you will be…
The original case and bracelet, in 904L type steel, offers the world’s best mechanical resistance and weathering properties that have already proven themselves in the most demanding environments. Nevertheless, the main challenge was to design a unique measuring tool, combining resistance and lightness, so we positioned ourselves on carbon. But here again things were not so simple, What Finishes ? What type of Carbon ? Which Alloy ? The water tightness on the whole? After 8 months of tests on different carbon alloys, we chose this one, we started from the carbon bezel already developed on the Eto’o Concept and we declined it for the case. The real skin of the case is the alchemy in terms of aesthetics and technicality because it guarantees the water-resistance and structural rigidity of the whole. A spinal column in the form of an inner ring has been created to meet these requirements. Likewise, the carbon, although very resistant, is brittle by nature, so it was not possible to screw in the transparent bottom as originally, and it was inconceivable not to have one. This back also has an internal ring, the carbon being like the case its skin, and is fixed to the case by 4 external pressure points, these 2 internal rings, of the case and the back, fitting well together and offering the rigidity and watertightness essential to the whole.
Dial, High performance and efficiency
A dial of sparkling elegance with a matt black skeleton, with orange counter indexes, contrasting with the black of the carbon and the anthracite grey of the movement, make it very easy to read. The dial symbolizes high performance and efficiency since it has been specially designed with the skeletonization of the movement and the competition environment in mind, while retaining its original properties, allowing very accurate reading of minutes and seconds up to 1/8th. For its elaboration we have carried out numerous tests in real racing situations, until we obtain the desired result. Its design is integrated into the skeleton movement, its colour finish, deliberately matt, further accentuates its high performance, resolutely oriented towards efficiency, which even in extreme conditions of use, allows the reading of all information without discomfort. The hands are the original, white gold, highly legible Chronomalight hands, the counter hands are orange, and the arrow on the seconds hand is also coloured, making it easy to read the information instantaneously.
Nylon strap
In order to offer the best comfort, the best resistance, and the search for the smallest gram, we have turned to Nylon. Highly resistant and supple, with a quick and reliable fastening system, evoking the demands of the world of motor racing, the carbon buckle of the same type as its case and bezel, reveals the topstitching, It provides all the technical and aesthetic qualities to optimize the machine.
The 4130 movement, Beyond expectations
The 4130 movement is undoubtedly the best chronograph in existence, its properties are legendary, its original architecture consists of far fewer parts than a standard chronograph, thus improving its reliability. The challenge was great, if not immense, so as not to distort the preciseness of this precise calibre while pushing back the technical limits and constraints as far as possible, in line with the environment of top competition, using the best technological tools and the ancestral knowhow of the watchmaking professions. The specifications were simple: to keep its properties, certifying its original precision standards, while developing it to the ultimate level. All the bridge opening blanks were first made by hand to ensure that all the mechanical properties were retained. All the parts were digitized and corrected to obtain a precision of the order of a micron, or a thousandth of a millimeter. The result is so breathtaking, both in the shapes depicted and the precise alignments, as well as in the meticulousness of its geometries, the eye is drawn to all its details which in fact have an incomparable finish, a technical reliability equivalent to the original with no less than 65% less material. The surface treatment in matt deep black, hand beveled and sandblasted surface, such is the result and the response to the initial loads, the 4130 in its competition definition. He wished to preserve the properties of the original watch, certifying its original precision standards.
